Love the simplicity of these shirts from Margaret Howell fro Winter

We came across these wonderful images on the Facehunter today

This morning WWD reported that Raf Simons is close to signing with Dior as their next couturier. I think it would really shake things up at Dior, having someone as innovative as Raf at its helm. I was reminded of this young lady (above) that I shot outside Chanel, and the interesting way she mixed Comme Des Garçons, Hermes, and Chanel into one look. It really made me think about how cool it would be if Rei Kawakubo took over for Karl Lagerfeld when he leaves Chanel- talk about a fascinating combination.
It’s always fun to think about who you would want to see where; Raf at Dior, Rei at Chanel, Dries at Hermes…these are just a few of my dream combos. But, let’s focus: Who do you see at Armani when he steps down? What about Chanel, or Ferre? Who’s going to revive the houses of Ungaro or Cardin? Better yet, what about Margiela?!

The much anticipated new label 2nd DAY arrived instore on Thurday along with the original DAY Birger et Mikkelsen.

Mustards massive as of late, pants are the perfect way to wear it away from the face, love Sherie Muijs' perfect pairs!

Look at these "Soul Club" sunnies, new from Karen Walker! In woodgrain and melon. Big fan of the retro frames!

The fashion house of Zambesi is known for its staying power and the sense of loyalty it instills in customers and staff. Briar Neville is one such loyal follower, having worked with the company since 2004 - although she's known the Findlay family behind Zambesi since 1997, when she shot her first campaign with them. Since then she has worked in their boutiques, walked in various fashion week shows, and now works in sales and press at Zambesi head office. She tells us all about her style, from her wardrobe to her respect for her boss, Elisabeth Findlay.
Who are your favourite designers?
Liz from Zambesi and Margi from Nom*D. Their designs can sit next to any international label and hold their own.
What do you really want this coming season?
Zambesi has done an amazing printed silk called "Still Life". The fabric is like someone has created a 1950s decoupage of the Roses chocolate wrappers.
Your favourite accessory?
I've been taking jewellery nightclasses at Workshop 6 for about two years now, so my favourite accessories are of my own creation. I have a Perspex and silver cross ring I wear "religiously".
Who does the best shoes?
I have a weakness for Nikes.
Your favourite shop?
The Zambesi space in Melbourne is incredible. It's so huge that the clothes hang in the space like art in a gallery.
How do you define the word "fashionable"?
For me, it's about feeling comfortable in what I'm wearing.
What magazines do you always read?
Cooking magazines. I get great satisfaction from using fresh ingredients to whip up different taste sensations in the kitchen.
What do you wear to work? And what do you wear at home?
To work, I wear a mixture of labels stocked in our Zambesi stores. When I get home I change into anything cottony, slouchy and comfortable.
Best fashion advice you ever had?
Having worked in retail for so many years it seems I've given more advice than I've received. According to Mum when I was little I would lay my own outfit on the bed in the morning and then lay out what my brother would be wearing for the day.
Most cherished fashion item?
Zambesi had a tutu in 2004 called the "Tinkerbelle", made from the most incredible silk tulle. I can't say I wear it all that often but I am so glad I own it.
Dress to impress whom?
Myself, first and foremost. When I'm out with a work function or socially I do try to represent the Zambesi brand. It's more about dressing to inspire though.
Who is your ultimate fashion plate?
Well, I'm a lover of theatrical costumes and anything "dress-up". So my answer may be tacky, but it's Lady Gaga. She's very clever.
Who is the best dressed man in New Zealand?
[Zambesi Man designer] Dayne Johnston - he has the most amazing ability to balance formal structured suiting styles alongside an athletic sportswear feel. His collections are inspiring.

“I'm wearing an Acne blazer, Current/Elliott jeans, second hand leather shoes and a YSL bag.
Harvesting inspires me. I even call my jeans chili pants. I've never worn red before.”

The beautifully hand crafted Phong Chi Lai shoes for summer have arrived!

The wonderful Grace Coddington at Calvin Klein NY Fashion week.

Karen Walker's latest collection entitled "The American Girl" was inspired by "Taxi Driver's" Betsy and Iris, the collection explored the two different types of working girls and played with femininity in all it's forms.
My favorite looks were the tan blazer over dotty collared shirt with shorts and darker blue head scarf.
Also, the striped pants with dotty blazer and the colourful printed florals.

Having just returned from fashion week and all the inspirational bustle of Auckland during this time, I must say what has left a huge impression was the Zambesi show.
With its dramatic neon colours and chunky knit pieces, it looks like it'l be the best winter ever!

New fantastic Deadly Ponies bags instore. The new "Lava" colour is my personal favorite.

Sherie Muijs is new to Palm Boutique and we are just loving the soft cottons and colour palette. Her stunning mustard pants are truly covetable. That yellow rain coat make me wish for rainy weather.

Spring/Summer 2011/2012 Kate Sylvester "into the light" and Sylvester, just arrived in store!
Palm – Spring/Summer 2011/12
Well, as winter draws to a close, we eagerly look toward Spring & Summer 2011/12.
In store you will find aptly handpicked touches of trends, including neutrals and pastels evocative of nature and geometrical block colours in cobalt and tangerines.
Like all trends that span multiple seasons prints prove their staying power in updated silhouettes, and lace has evolved into a summer staple.
The energetic collision of menswear with womenswear continues to inspire.

Standout collections for me are Zambesi’s consistently first rate utilitarian/athletic mood softened just so by atypical blush hues and Karen Walker's density of print inspired by the 1970’s Northern England Dance Scene.
I’ve welcomed two new additions to Palm - NZ labels twentysevennames, who have mastered the art of femininity, minus the twee undertones, with a SS 11/12 collection inspired by Japanese Mori girls, and Sherie Muijs who encompasses the epitome of easy summer dress with well thought out colours, fabrics and construction.
It is easy to be optimistic throughout the last of the winter weather when there are so many new season garments to delight and excite!
New S/S 2012 campaign images by Marissa Findlay.
We love all those vibrant hues and chalky tones and can't wait to get instore!

Have a look at Madame Grès exhibition at Musée de France.
Totally inspirational, would love to visit it but the photos are the next best thing!

Love the look of Karen Inderbitzen Waller and Avril Planqueel's home on The Selby especially the rabbit in a hawaiian shirt and the village "Tiny Town"
The whole house is fab!

It is that time of the year where the new season Spring/Summer collections are starting to arrive.
It reminds us of Christmas time with all the exicitement of opening boxes and seeing the georgeous colours and the lighter fabrics of the Summer clothes.
We are loving the looks from Day Birger et Mikkelsen and American Retro!

Also, our new jean favorite is by the New Zealand brand Fistful of Bird.
The "Antique Highrise" in Nightingale wash!

Thursday 26th of May, Palm customers enjoyed a VIP evening with guest of honour Karen Walker.
A fun night with lovely Kahurangi wines and delicous nibbles.
All guests left with a goodie bag of treats.

Winter is here finally and what we're loving at the moment are all the snuggly knits from Standard Issue, especially the 100% cashmere.
http://www.palmboutique.co.nz/collections/standard-issue
Also, the Nellie Tier handcream for those "winter" hands, a wonderful handmade organic product made in Auckland.
Fabulous hand crafted Phong Chi Lai shoes just arrived from Melbourne!
My Favorite are the Funereal Boot.
Welcome to our new and updated website which now has a much more comprehensive range of items.
We hope that you enjoy using it and want you to know that it will be updated regularly with info.
The shop is now full of wonderful winter garments and personally I am a big fan of winter fashion!
Autumn Winter 2011 has many strands, from the womanly, in waisted dresses with swirly skirts to the " wild nature " looks in giant and oversize knits and fake furs.
Lots of lovely leather from pants and skirts to great fitted jackets.
Pants are long and lean with mannish cuts but also the elegant wider leg sitting higher on the waist with little tucked in blouse.
Sculptural shoes and boots like small works of art.
Wonderful Deadly Ponies bags , heirlooms of the future!
Warmest Regards
Jane Palm
